B&B Electronics, a manufacturing company located in Ottawa, IL is seeking a Full Time Field Application Engineer (FAE). Qualified candidates will possess a broad range of technical experience in industrial communication equipment; employer strongly prefers candidates with experience in an industrial Automation environment.

Job Summary

As the Field Engineer on the Sales Team, you'll need excellent technical, communication, and organizational ability.

You will work with Regional Sales Managers, Manufacturer’s Representatives and customers throughout the sales process including pre-sales opportunites. You will be called on to help to define custom product specification together with the customer and drive the respective sales process within B&B Electronics.  You will also be responsible for developing training material and providing technical field training of System Integrators and key customers. 

You will be the technical liaison to resolve customer issues and proactively identify potential problem areas. You'll work with technical and non-technical personnel in our customers' organization to fulfill application requirements and achieve pre-sales support. You will need to be an excellent communicator, and you should be comfortable collaborating with Engineering, Product Management and Sales Teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand customer applications and propose solutions, either with standard products or identify custom opportunities,  to industrial communication problems.
• Interface between customer for custom product definition and our internal engineering team.
• Provide pre-sales technical assistance to Regional Sales Managers through collaboration on account strategy and product demonstrations.
• Provide training to System Integrators, Channel Partners and End Users
• Make sales calls on various types of customers with Sales Channel or Individually.
• Maintain a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in industrial communication equipment including serial, Ethernet, Wireless and USB
• 2 year technical degree required, with minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
• Travel 50-70% of the time within the US.   Preferred location in Chicago, IL area but other areas to be considered.
