B&B Electronics: RoHS & WEEE Compliance
B&B Electronics is committed to the protection of our environment and is taking the steps necessary to meet the challenges of new regulatory requirements as they arise. A recent challenge is the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive of the European Union. RoHS restricts the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether (PBDE) flame retardants in electrical and electronic equipment from July 1, 2006 onwards.
B&B Electronics is committed to fully comply with the RoHS Directive. Conversion of existing product families to RoHS compliance is based on component availability and market requirements. B&B Electronics will begin shipping RoHS-compliant products as they are available. Status of our RoHS-compliant product is listed at View B&B’s RoHS Product Status & Schedule.
To obtain specific details of each product's transition to RoHS compliance and to order RoHS compliant product, contact your B&B Electronics Customer Service Representative or Account Manager at 1-815-433-5100.

Background
The European Union also adopted Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), with requirements that went into effect August 13, 2005. WEEE is intended to reduce the disposal of waste from electrical and electronic equipment by establishing guidelines for prevention, reuse, recycling and recovery.
WEEE Compliance:
All B&B Electronics products have adhered to WEEE regulations since August 13, 2005. B&B Electronics is placing WEEE labels (crossed out Wheelie Bin Symbol) on all electronic products and packages.
